AIC Party Report

Updated: Sep 13, 2021

Wow, just – wow. African Independent Congress (Clapping sound): no website, no manifesto that I could find and as of two years ago (2019), no officially recognised leadership. The party is this small and already allegations of corruption are thrown around between its president: Mandla Galo, and deputy-president: Lulama Ntshayisa. Founded in 2005, the party is another renegade child of the ANC, begotten through rebellion towards a border change between the Eastern Cape and Kwa-Zulu Natal that effectively moved a town called Matatiele from Kwa-Zulu Natal to the Eastern Cape. That rebellion failed with the confirmation of that border change by the 13th amendment of the constitution; but, the movement’s momentum persisted and took it all the way to parliament as a political party.

Finding information on this party is a struggle which surprises me as to its eligibility to even get into parliament as I would’ve expected that said entry would require certain party structures be established; ones that, at least, ensured the availability of information on them. How does a party get into parliament without a reliable source of information on its membership and leadership structures? With that being said, there is nothing to say about this party’s stance on land issues or any issue for that matter – the fact that enough people voted for it is telling of the inadequacies possessed by the South African populace thus also of our needs as people. My question to you, here, would be: could you provide a reason to vote for this party?
